    Finagling The How.

Still dotting away on this end. Pencil going crazy. Sharpening and then dulling the pencil lead... a la The Dots. AND, I keep lighten-ing up the flames and moving the midpoint of the gradient around. Still finagling the HOW of this happening. Sheesh. My subconscious is working things out through my fingers. Slowly. I am TRYING not to put another hole in the paper from too much erasing. LOL. Anyway. The COOL thing happening right here is HER hair. The lines in-between the two heads were MOSTLY the lines of HIS hair. Not all, but mostly. It's funny, but I've never REALLY known how the transition would play out. EVERYdays throw out such white noise that sometimes it's HARD to HEAR that little voice. Weeeeeell, I am finding out. After laying down a zillion labor intensive dots, what did I do? I pulled out the ol' trusty kneaded eraser and start erasing white lines into the graphite. Of course.

I am SUPPOSED to be finishing up THIS drawing so I can start the next collage so it will be done in time for the artist retreat. Of course that means that I spent an inordinate amount of time re-working the mask of the male face (with the road going through it) AND darkening up the trophy. That's EXACTLY how you wrap up a work of art... you go BACKWARDS. Obviously. LOL. NEXT

Out of the dots come crackling lightning bolts.

I haven't had enough time to draw. It's a fact. I am working in video right now putting together music videos for Gary (practice for when I start doing ART videos). But anyway, that is for another day. THIS is NOW. And right NOW I can tell you that the transition between her and his heads is REALLY taking shape. Really cool lines are emerging from the trusty ol' kneaded eraser and the swarm of dots. Lines that are somewhat reminiscent of crackling lightning bolts... NEXT

Bringing the cheetah INTO her face...

Still working on bare creative, intermittent moments. Precious drops of time that are creating INTENSE, crazy symbolic artwork. For the last couple of days I have been drawing DARK circles round HER eyes (on paper printouts of the drawing). Deep, dark rings around her eyes, that were bringing the cheetah CLEARLY into her face. A whole lotta spots were also creeping further down... directly INTO her face. All of these bits were... TOO dramatic. Tooooo over-the-top and heavy handed. TOOOO one dimensional. Putting blinders on the symbols so they could only travel ONE WAY. BUT, I noticed an unexpectedly cool thing happening. The Spots were actually... adding a running motion to the cheetah. Wow. Really crazy stuff. The cheetah began to run. I had to do it. HAD TO DO IT. When I picked up the pencil, I found that the collective unconscious KNEW of a solution located between the two points of what I did and did NOT want to do. Subtle AND succinct with symbolic breathing space intact. Wow (again). AND... while the kneaded eraser was out (creating crackling lines in her hair).... the flames GREW too. I never saw THAT coming either. It's crazy beautiful how a drawing GROWS and EXPANDS, as the pencil travels across the undiscovered country that is ....a piece of paper.... NEXT

"Yes. No. (Ceci n'est pas une pipe.)" is DONE.

Soooo, this work of art is DONE... a new drawing has been started and I am not even mentioning the abstract artwork created in between EVERYthing ...OR even hint at the super surreal video on the way. No. Not me. I'll just say, "Details coming soon" ... the artist notes will be updated SOON ...and DUCK as you throw something at me. Ha. Anyway. Check the facebook page for quickie updates that can... sometimes be... occassionally... a tad ahead of the site. Ugh. That's a horrible fact. Anyway. You know the score baby: I will update EVERYTHING sometime...soon(ish). In the interim: there's Art of all sorts to be SEEN (videos, photos, websites, drawings, etc. etc.).

Note: this blog entry was on the homepage of the website from Jan. 30- May 29, 2015. Does the word "soon" mean the same thing to us both???? Sheesh. Support the Arts! Support the Artists!
