The "Yo Mr. Collective" call is answered.

FACEBOOK (November 13, 2015): THE COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS GIVES AND TAKES. Ok. I have the name of the drawing, "The Red Queen Effect". Images of Alice in Wonderland and the Red Queen kept running through my imagination. "Yo. Mr. Collective" seems to have answered the call from last week. Ha. So I went online and ended up on a few different wiki pages regarding the Red Queen. Wow. Scientists appear to love that passage. I especially enjoy the story line about running as fast as you can JUST to stay in place... and needing to run twice as fast to get anywhere else... There are a number of scientific theories that REALLY work into this drawing AND the fairytale, old school imagery, etc. etc. work to. Awesome. Rich. Thick. Symbolic. Multi-level'd. And guess what. Drawing named. Thank you Mr. YO.

As for the drawing itself. I thought I was done. I even signed it. Then, a little while later.... I picked up the pencil and found my hand REALLY bringing the idea of "the sky is falling" ...into reality. While a beautiful and WONDERFUL imagery came to life... it also unbalanced the very drawing that I thought was done. We'll see. I have a few ideas floating around. I EXPECT to be DONE this weekend... but who am I??? Is this REALLY a need to know issue???? NEXT

    Black boxes on my mind...

FACEBOOK (November 21, 2015): A SMALL DETAIL ABOUT EYE FLOW... I know it seems crazy that I would be SO troubled by a few black boxes on the edge of the drawing.... boxes that just MIGHT... lead the eye off the page. This is something that is not SO apparent when the drawing is solo in the space, all attention focused (so to speak) on it, the artwork. It's something my art teacher told me: so many artists ACCIDENTALLY lead the viewer right out of their very own picture and straight into the drawing off to the right. By accident... you push the viewer along. Jeez. If you are showing in an exhibition... there is a LOT of art to look at, and you want people to SEE your piece and... the eye of the viewer can slide right out of your drawing... under this sort of situation. My high school art teacher went on to say that the artist MUST get the eye back into the pict so the entire work of art can be seen. Eye flow. I remember in college how much time my art history teacher spent on the subject of EXACTLY WHAT the artist was ACTUALLY focusing the viewers eyeballs on... on purpose. It can be quite the funny subject because the eye is going SOMEWHERE and the artist can choose to take control of that moment... or be at the mercy of the viewer. BIGtime.

That being said, here is the finished "The Red Queen Effect". I KNOW it is finished... because it is out being framed (so I can't touch it anymore without a whole lotta trouble). LOL. BTW: happy turkey day. NEXT

War paint on the face of the moon.

FACEBOOK (June 9, 2016): THE SKY IS FALLING. I have the paperwork on my desk to fill out and turn in tomorrow for the member's show at the Morean. I'm going to put "The Red Queen Effect" in the show (coming soon: July-ish). I'll put the details up soon. BUT... here's one for you. One of the things I really like about this drawing.... it's a symbol from an old, old tale... of Chicken Little.... the one who kept running around yelling that the sky was falling (because an acorn hit him on the head). That story (according to wikipedia ) goes back more than 25 centuries... and it is STILL relevent. I didn't do this on purpose. There's no chickens in this drawing. Just a sky falling. It's something the collective unconscious SHOWED me after, .... when the drawing was done. LOL. The muse is so cool... and (apparently) has one hell of a sense of humor.

I also really like the war paint on the face of the moon...... NEXT

A simultaneous debut of ONE idea.

FACEBOOK (June 29, 2016): THE RED QUEEN EFFECT ....IN THE REAL. This is SO weird. "The Red Queen Effect"... which shows a woman..."clothed" in (what she BELEIVES)... is an adoring crowd.... (boy is THAT an ironical AND supremely loaded symbol).... AND... the brand new music video we JUST uploaded.... which shows a happy (?) man on a beach (among other things)... who is wrestling with thoughts and memories .... in VERY much the same way as the Red Queen is "clothed" in an enthusiastic crowd. I said a while back... that the videos were opening my mind in a weird way....and REALLY affecting my art. NOW, I SEE the TWO paths in a simultaneous debut of ONE idea.... one part in motion, the other still. Wow. I am SO BLOWN AWAY RIGHT NOW. I can't wait to see what happens next. Did I mention that I've signed up for a virtual reality designer class or two??? Ha. Ha. Ha. I couldn't decide WHICH still from the video that I wanted to feature, so I narrowed it down to JUST four and JUST uploaded them. AND....check out the video FOR YOURSELF. See what I mean??? Can you SEE what I'm rambling on about??? NEXT
