Normalcy. White noise at the door.

FACEBOOK (June 25, 2015): ART EXHIBITION AND... Tomorrow, there is a special reception for the members' art show at the studio@620. I have TWO works of ART on display. TWO. TOO friggin' cool baby. You can SEE, if you want. PLUS... the nine days are ALMOST HERE. I just have a zillion things to do between now and tomorrow. I am un-tying one knot at a time. Then... normalcy can become a white noise left at the door. White noise. A Very Strange Guardian. Outside. The. Door. I will not even TRY to be a tad bit normal. Just an artist (hopefully) touching more than a tiny wisp of the collective unconscious and TRYing like hell to bring it home and make it real. Wish me luck. It is akin to FINALLY getting to take deep, deep breaths of crazy beautiful air. Sooooo...., HERE is a copy of where the drawing is (as of the last time I took a photo). It should be much more done.... nine days from now. NEXT

    NOTHING but pencil and paper...

FACEBOOK (July 7, 2015): NINE DAYS: JUST ART AND NOTHING BUT THE ART. Nothing else in my mind EXCEPT the pencil and the paper. Nine days. A luxury bought and paid for with every other moment in between. And, in that journey... that dip down into the collective unconscious... unexpected twists and turns emerged. The ultimate zen moment where the ego is left behind and the crafting takes over. The best high. It was hard to step back into the "real" world when the nine days were done. Whatever. THIS is what I bought back with me.. NEXT

Following the pencil across the paper.

FACEBOOK (July 14, 2015): THE FULL MOON. One day... I am GOING TO GET MY WEBSITE CAUGHT UP. In the interim... details. Here: I don't want the face in the moon to be TOO... attention getting-ly intense... and I have a slight problem with limiting detail. Yeah. Really. Can you tell? LOL. Soooo, instead... I limited myself to just ONE pencil, the lightest one in my arsenal (6H). That means that the darkest dark can only go SOOOOO dark. It's the only way... and it seems to be working. The face is THERE but the blonde is still THE focus. This is crazy. I am JUST following the muse and the pencil... across the paper and it is a beautiful journey. I am trying like hell to keep the link fresh while fulfilling the minutiae of day-to-day mundane responsibility. Whatever. Ha. NEXT

Anything in your head is perfect.

FACEBOOK (July 21, 2015): A QUESTION YOU HEAR A LOT. Artists, musicians, actors (etc.)... are often asked: did you KNOW it was good when you were working on it? The honest answer??? Everything you work on FEELS like it could be THAT. THAT's why you do it. ... but... it's not an easy thing to pull off. The crafting and technical details can derail quietly. When you START to get that feeling, in your bones... that this could be REAL GOOD... it scares the shit out of you. Why? One. Because if you don't pull it off.... you know it. Forever. Two. If you do pull it off... you are filled with the question: NOW what do I do???? How can I top THAT??? I've painted myself into a corner. Well. Not to worry. Yes I am scared shitless because this one is doing crazy things (in my head). Anything in your head is perfect. It's the pulling it OUT of that space which is tricky. AND... I've had this feeling before and.... am usually very unhappy when I see how I missed. How it COULD have been BETTER... if I'd just done... (whatever). I have also SUCCEEDED beyond my wildest dreams AND.... pulled even better out of the collective unconscious the next time AND... looking back I say, "THAT was what you thought was your BEST". Ha. Too funny. NEXT

    Let the collective unconscious FLOW.

FACEBOOK (July 29, 2015): ABOUT THE CREATIVE PROCESS. I used to think... that artists PICKED their subjects and CRAFTED an idea. That's what I USED to do. Ha. That was before. Gary SHOWED me SO MUCH MORE about art... about the fact that you, as the artist, are just a lightening rod for the muse to strike. That the BEST you can do is be open to the idea that is OUT THERE... just waiting... for an opportunity to strike. What an eye-opener. What a revelation-ary revolution. Nowadays, I don't try to CRAFT anything... I really just TRY to be OPEN to let the collective unconscious FLOW freely through me... and I am AMAZED at the result. Seriously dumbfounded on a constantly continuing basis. That does NOT mean that I do not craft at all... it means that I am 99.999999% FOCUSED on opening and once the... gift has landed... I am still trying to NOT FORCE anything. Any crafting that happens... is... mindfully mastered (because you NEED to KNOW what you are DOING to MAKE it REAL). You must study your craft so you can BE open in a way that the muse can use. Anyway. Whatever. Synopsis time. The muse RULES. I follow. And this is where I am today... with THIS drawing. NEXT
